Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the TiRST website (tirst.me) collects, why, and what choices you have. TiRST is an independent project run by Al Lotufo in Canada.

Information we collect

When you browse the site

Like most websites, our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) for security and troubleshooting. Logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.

When you submit a testimonial

If you send a testimonial through the form, we store the name you give, your star rating, your written review and any Twitch or YouTube links you choose to add. Testimonials are reviewed before anything is published. Once approved, your name, rating, review and links may appear publicly on this website.

To prevent spam, we store a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for a short time. It cannot be turned back into your IP address.

When you download TiRST

Downloading the app does not require an account and we do not collect personal information as part of the download.

Cookies and local storage

  • Cookie choice (tirst_consent): remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies, for up to one year.
  • Theme (stored in your browser's local storage): remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. It never leaves your device.
  • Embedded YouTube videos: videos are served from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com) and only load after you accept cookies. Once a video plays, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies and receive your IP address. See Google's privacy policy for details.
  • Admin login: a session cookie is used only by the site owner when signed in to the admin area.

You can change your cookie choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

Links to other sites

The site links to Discord, Twitch, YouTube and other services. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

How we use and share information

We use the information above only to run the website, publish approved testimonials and keep the site secure. We do not sell your information. Notifications about new testimonials are sent to a private Discord channel used only by the site owner.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to see, correct or remove a testimonial or any other information you have given us. Contact us through the TiRST Discord server and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are in Canada, you also have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
